Anyone with a lick of sense knows that those most prepared usually come out on top in the end. President Trump knew pretty early on he would need a reliable method for making sure those that were intent on taking him down may win a few battles here and there but ultimately they would lose the war. DNS (Domain Name System) lets you connect to websites by matching human-readable domain names (like alfabank.com) with the unique ID of the server where a website is stored.
Think of the DNS system as the internet’s phonebook. It lists domain names with their corresponding identifiers called IP addresses, instead of listing people’s names with their phone numbers. When a user enters a domain name like trump.com on their device, it looks up the IP address and connects them to the physical location where that website is stored. So, you and I rely on the “DNS Server” to route us to the location we requested. That DNS server creates logs of everyone that requested a website and where they were taken.
In a normal scenario the client (you) says take me to trump.com…the DNS server (website phonebook) goes and finds that site…then routes you to the site you requested.
In a scenario where a DNS server is hacked the attacker injects a fake DNS entry to replace trump.com and then when the client (you) says take me to trump.com…the DNS server (website phonebook) redirects you to a fake or alternate website…in this case alfabank.com.
So the DNS log says:
1. John Smith requested trump.com at 8:57am on 9/8/2016. 2. Server routed John Smith to alfabank.com at 8:57am on 9/8/2016.
Now someone on the inside (or an advanced hacker) can go in and alter the DNS logs to read the following:
1. John Smith requested alfabank.com at 8:57am on 9/8/2016. 2. Server routed John Smith to alfabank.com at 8:57am on 9/8/2016.
The altered DNS logs are then handed over to a Rodney Joffe type character for delivery to the FBI as evidence that someone within the Trump organization was in contact with Alfa Bank. Now repeat the above or similar scenarios about 50 times and suddenly it would appear that the Trump organization is consistent contact with a Russian bank just a few months before the election.
In some respects this is oversimplified because there is lots of technical logistics involved in pulling something like this off but you get the general idea. But knowing what we know now (that this was a total sham), read this section from a piece in The New Yorker in October of 2018. This article has references to the supposed who’s who of cybersecurity.
What baffles me about articles like this even I though I know these are probably all enemies of Trump I can’t help but think that perhaps some of them (if not all of them) thought that the data they were looking at was legitimate. They would have to know that if they were lying then the moment anyone did any level of network traffic forensics they would immediately be discredited.
Because now we know the following claims by Russia (Alfa Bank) are entirely true:
We have to ask ourselves some key questions now that we know that Durham is starting to drop some serious hammers.
Did all these cybersecurity experts knowingly collude about something they knew would eventually reach a dead end? (because they had to know it could not stand the weight of investigation)
Or is it possible they simply didn’t care about getting caught because they thought the entire thing was rigged in their favor?
Why did Trump always seem so confident in his claims especially as it pertained to matters involving technology?
It’s a crazy time folks, but I tend to think that major American companies like Oracle working with Russian banks on data protection and identity management solutions is not necessarily coincidence.
All this right around the time that Ezra Cohen Watnick went to work for Oracle? Come on folks. These apples are likely hanging on the same tree.
What I am about to say should not be interpreted the wrong way. I am not ruling out that the one thing that Trump’s enemies said happened that was shown to have never happened…may have actually happened. It is possible that Trump actually did collude with the Russians to take down the enemies of humanity…to which I say…
Interesting tidbit yesterday about Qatar riding to rescue Europe from its natural gas problem. Firstly, Qatar tried to humble brag by stating that they probably wouldn’t be able to replace the entire hole left by Gazprom’s reduction.
Next it is reported that Putin has signed an agreement with the Iranian government to allow Gazprom to take whatever it wants from the Pars gas field. Yesterday. In Teheran.
Problem for Qatar is that’s the same gas field they will be sourcing their gas from. With Gazprom’s sticky little fingers in the neighborhood who knows what could happen wink wink. Oops.
That’s in addition to Azerbaijani gas being contracted to supply Greece. Except Azerbaijan has a very strong cooperation agreement with Moscow that precedes AND strategically outweighs any new contracts with Europe. Azerbaijani gas supply could suddenly run into all manner of technical difficulties.
Thank You Richard, God bless You and Your's 🙏
